HOLE IN ONE REPORT -OTIS WINTERS aced hole #11 at Patricia Island Golf
This is not an April Fool’s Joke. This was reported by a bitter loser of a bet placed right before OTIS WINTERS aced hole #11 at Patricia Island Golf Course in Grove, OK with a sand wedge March 29th. The loser of the bet and a good friend, Vernon Brady lost a soda to Otis. Congrats Otis.
LOCAL ANNOUNCEMENT
- GRAND LAKE GOLF SCHOOL at Patricia Island is now the official “Fitter” for www.fitchip.com in this area. This is a new fitting system in which we can measure instantaneously if you have the right frequency shafts in your clubs. The inventor and developer proved to me that 60% of all golfers are playing with the wrong shaft frequency. Simplified, this just means you either, get the club face square back to the ball naturally or by force. Naturally is of course best.
We offer a fitting and swing lesson for $50; If you replace and order your shafts at $40 each including grip, we credit the $50 to your purchase.
- The annual Grove Area Chamber golf tournament will be held on Friday May 21 at Grove’s Patricia Island Golf Course. A highlight of the fundraiser this year will be a $10,000 jackpot awarded to any golfer striking a hole in one.
- Grove High School Report by Coach Jason Geer:
With the weather there has not been much chance of practice or play…our boys first tournament at Neosho was cancelled due to weather and will be made up on April 19th…They play at Miami Invitational at Peoria Ridge on Monday 3/29…With a short school week we will play our 2nd tournament at the Gary Thompson Golf Memorial held here at Patricia Island on April 5th with the conference tournament on April 8th held at the Shangri-La Blue Course.
The girls first tournament is at McAlester on March 29th…preview for the regionals…They will play at the Vinita Invitational on Wednesday March 31st at the Grand Cherokee Course in Langley…The following week they will play at conference on April 8th and Nowata Invitational on April 9th.
All things considered i am pleased with the potential and effort the players are displaying. The girls will have 4 seniors and the experience should pay off as we go through the season.

I am fortunately being joined in teaching by Gregg Compton and Sean O’Grady and occasionally Andy Stewart. If you miss a class, we’ll do a 30 min. make up session for $15. No limit on class size because we have plenty of instructors. Gregg and Sean are very much in to teaching “just the basics” like me. (I guess I will stop enrollment at 30). I have a little different itinerary but I still guarantee satisfaction! We will do a little more on the course activity as well as better video analysis. Encourage your lady friends and family to come with you.
Keep it in the Middle!
Steve
